We are an independent evangelical church. But let’s break that down a bit:
This is not the building, it is God’s people. Although we have a building situated on Fore Street in Camborne, we could meet anywhere: in a school hall; community centre; even in the open air! What makes church is when people who love God and whose lives have been changed by the Lord Jesus come together to worship and praise Him and to listen and respond to His Word, the Bible.
This simply means that we take the fundamental teachings of the Bible seriously. It means that we believe that Jesus, the Son of God, truly came to this earth, born as a baby and placed in an animal feeding trough in a back street of Bethlehem; that He lived a perfect life; and that He died on a cross outside Jerusalem to pay the penalty for all the things we have done wrong, so that we might draw near to God. We also believe that Jesus rose from the dead and is now sat at the right hand of God, the Father and that one day, He will come again. We believe that the Holy Spirit has been given to all believers in Jesus, to regenerate and empower us, that we might carry out the mission Jesus gave us, to “go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19) – Click here for more on “What We Believe”
We are not part of a formal denomination. This doesn’t mean that we are isolated, as we have good relations and fellowship with many churches in our town of Camborne, the wider community of Cornwall and beyond! Because we are independent, decisions on the running of our local church are made by our own Leadership Team (click here for details of our Leadership Team). In 2016, we joined the Partnership UK network of churches. This connects us with other like-minded churches around the country.
