What we believe :: Camborne Community Church

What we believe

Because this church has its roots and origins in the so-called Open Brethren movement, our trust deed contains a clause outlining our doctrines and practices under our “Statement of Beliefs”.  When the church was switched to a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) in 2017, the wording of this clause in the old document was retained, as it stands good today, even though we are now an independent evangelical church and no longer part of the Brethren movement.

Statement of Beliefs

Doctrines

  1. The Divine inspiration, authority and sufficiency of the Holy Scriptures.
  2. The Unity of the Godhead, with the distinction of persons in that unity, namely the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, to whom equal honour is due.
  3. That the Son of God truly became man, being begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
    1. That His death was a sacrifice to God and a propitiation for the remission of sins.
    2. That He was raised from the dead.
    3. That He ascended to the right hand of God, and is now the all-sufficient high Priest and Advocate of His people.
    4. That He will come again to receive them unto Himself and to set up His Kingdom.
  4. That in consequence of the fall of Adam, man became a sinner “lost”, “without strength”, and at “enmity against God”.
  5. The need of the Holy Spirit’s work in regeneration and sanctification.
  6. That the justification of the sinner before God is by His grace and by faith alone.
    1. That every justified one is also born of God.
    2. That such new birth results in and is made evident by holiness of life and good works.
  7. That the dead will be raised either to life or to condemnation; and that the blessedness of the righteous and the punishment of the unrighteous will be alike eternal.

Practices

  1. The observance of the two ordinances of Christianity, believers’ baptism and the Lord’s Supper, both symbols of the death of Christ.
  2. The reception at the Lord’s Supper of all believers.
  3. The conducting of meetings for worship and prayer under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, with opportunity for the exercise in the assembly of all true gifts for edification, subject to the Lordship of Christ.
  4. To strive together with one mind for the faith of the Gospel so that there may continue to be a “sending out of the word of the Lord” through the preaching of His servants in proclaiming the full “Gospel of Christ”.

Directions & Parking

Our building is situated on historic Fore Street (previously known as Camborne Hill) and our postcode for satnav purposes is TR14 8AY.  We are located opposite Vyvyan Street and just up from the Conservative Club.

Unfortunately, we don’t have onsite parking.  There is on-street parking further down Fore Street and into Tehidy Road.  However, there is a pay-and-display car park (Trevithick Road Car Park) to the rear of the church building and you will find it at TR14 8LY.  Follow the car park to the furthest point and you will see a concrete block wall with a gate into the church property.

Alternatively, on Sundays there is free parking in a council-owned car park at Rosewarne (TR14 8BE).  It is just a 2-minute walk back to Camborne Community Church along Vyvyan Street.
